- Wash the apples thoroughly and dry them well to remove any wax residue.
- Firmly insert the wooden sticks into the center of each apple.
- In a heavy saucepan, combine the unwrapped Starburst candies, corn syrup, and water, mixing well before heating.
- Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
- If desired, divide the melted candy and add gel food coloring to achieve vibrant shades.
- Quickly drizzle different colors back into the main pan and swirl gently with a toothpick for a marbled effect.
- Dip each apple into the melted candy mixture, turning to coat completely. Allow excess candy to drip off.
- Place the coated apples onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Allow the candy coating to harden completely, about 30 minutes.
