- Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and set aside.
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
- Insert wooden sticks into the stems of each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (about 300°F or 150°C on a candy thermometer).
- Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully add food coloring, stirring gently to combine.
- Dip each apple into the candy coating, allowing excess to drip off. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- If desired, melt the white chocolate chips and drizzle over the coated apples. Sprinkle with festive decorations.
- Let the apples cool until the coating hardens, about 30 minutes.
