Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lump crab meat Use high-quality fresh lump crab meat for best flavor and texture, or imitation crab for a more economical option.
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese Soften at room temperature for easier mixing. Greek yogurt can be substituted for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 cup diced celery Ensures a refreshing crunch in every bite.
  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers Use red or yellow bell peppers for vibrant color and a subtle sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion Finely dice for a milder flavor and better integration into the salad.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed lemon juice brightens all the flavors significantly.
  • 1/2 tsp paprika Adds a mild, sweet pepper flavor and a touch of color.
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Season gradually, tasting as you go to achieve perfect balance.
  • 1/4 tsp pepper Freshly ground black pepper adds a superior aroma and gentle bite.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley or dill Finely chopped, for garnish and a fresh aromatic finish.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Gently pick through the crab meat to remove any shells. If using imitation crab, tear it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, gently fold the prepared crab, diced celery, bell peppers, red onion, and cream cheese (or Greek yogurt) together until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  3. Stir in the lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasonings as needed to your preference.
  4. For best flavor, cover the bowl and refrigerate the crab salad for 15–30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and chill.
  5. Garnish the chilled crab salad with fresh chopped parsley or dill just before serving. Enjoy on a bed of crisp lettuce, in a sandwich, or as a delightful side dish.

Notes

This crab salad is incredibly versatile. Try serving it in avocado halves, as a dip with crackers, or even in mini phyllo cups for an elegant appetizer.
