Method
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using) to season the beef. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise into the cooked ground beef mixture. Mix until well combined. If using diced onions or pickles, stir them into the mixture now. Set the beef mixture aside.
- In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the frozen French fries evenly over the bottom of the dish. Pour the beef mixture over the fries, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over the beef and fries. Make sure to cover the whole dish with cheese.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the French fries are crispy.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately. You can serve this casserole with additional ketchup or mustard on the side, if desired.
Notes
For a more classic cheeseburger taste, use American cheese. Feel free to add or omit the optional ingredients like onions and pickles to suit your preference. This casserole is best served hot, with extra condiments on the side.
