Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Freshly shredded cheese melts better and has more flavor.
  • 0.5 cup cooked bacon bits Crispy bacon bits add a smoky, savory crunch to the filling.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Enhances the savory notes of the cheese mixture.
  • 1 pinch Salt Season generously, but taste the mixture before adding too much.
  • 1 pinch Pepper Freshly ground black pepper offers the best aroma and flavor.

Equipment

  • Baking Dish
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Halve jalapeños lengthwise and remove seeds; set aside. For less heat, remove all seeds and membranes.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Generously fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture.
  5. Arrange stuffed jalapeños in the prepared baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. The filling will be hot!

Notes

For an extra kick, leave some of the jalapeño seeds in. You can also experiment with different cheese blends or add a dash of hot sauce to the filling.
