Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk (optional glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until dough forms and knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  2. Let dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  4. Roll dough into a 9×15-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar, and roll tightly. Place seam-side down in the pan and let rise 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden. Cool 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
  6. For glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over cooled bread.

Notes

Use warm milk to activate yeast properly. Add a pinch of nutmeg to the filling for extra depth. Roll dough tightly to keep the swirl intact during baking.
