Description

These dried orange slices are a simple, nutritious, and versatile treat perfect for snacking, crafting, or holiday decorating. Made with just fresh oranges and slow oven dehydration, they retain their vibrant color, citrus aroma, and up to 80–90% of their vitamin C content.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 fresh oranges (seedless varieties like navel or Valencia)
  • Optional: blood oranges, mandarins, lemons, or grapefruits for variety

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice oranges into thin 1/8-inch rounds using a sharp knife or mandoline.
  3. Pat slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  4. Arrange slices in a single layer on the baking sheet without overlapping.
  5. Bake for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway through, until dried and leathery.
  6. Cool completely on a wire rack before storing.

Notes

For faster drying, use a convection oven or pat slices extra dry. Avoid slicing too thick to prevent uneven drying. Fully cool before storing to prevent moisture buildup.
