Description
These warm buttery lobster rolls are a luxurious twist on the New England classic. Sweet lobster meat is gently warmed in butter and nestled in golden, toasted split-top buns—simple, rich, and incredibly satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb cooked lobster meat (claw, knuckle, and tail preferred)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 New England-style split-top buns
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, minced
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Drain and pat lobster meat dry. Chop into large bite-sized chunks.
- In a skillet over low-medium heat, melt butter. Add lobster meat and juices; simmer 1 minute.
- Add shallots and continue simmering 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in orange zest and chives in final 30 seconds.
- Remove lobster from pan, reserving butter. Dip bun sides into butter and toast in a clean skillet for 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
- Split buns open, fill with warm lobster, and garnish with chives or lemon if desired. Serve immediately with remaining butter for dipping.
Notes
Use large lobster chunks for the best texture. Toasting the buns in butter adds crunch and flavor. Orange zest adds unique brightness to balance richness.
