- 8 slices brioche or challah bread
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Arrange thick-cut bread slices slightly overlapping in the dish.
- Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour custard evenly over bread and gently press to absorb.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Bake uncovered 25–30 minutes until golden and set.
- Sprinkle sugar over the top and caramelize with a torch or broil 1–2 minutes.
- Rest 5 minutes before serving.
